Shining Light On Animals In Need
We welcome all kindred spirits.
We are inclusive, accepting, loving, and compassionate; toward all animals, and the people doing their best to care for them.

Expanding Compassion, One Rescue at a Time.
For over 35 years, Jes MaHarry has dedicated her life to protecting and caring for animals in need. Now, through the Sun Horse Foundation, we are expanding that mission—providing rescue, rehabilitation, and sanctuary for vulnerable animals while advocating for a kinder, more compassionate world.
Modeled after Patagonia’s 1% for the Planet, the foundation is powered by 1% of Jes MaHarry’s revenue, as well as the generosity of like-minded individuals who believe in protecting animals from cruelty, neglect, and homelessness.
Every life we touch matters. Whether it’s a horse saved from an auction kill pen, a dog rescued from euthanasia, or a rabbit given a second chance, we are committed to shining a light on those who need it most.
Join us in rescuing, rehabilitating, and restoring hope—one animal at a time.
Our Mission
At the Sun Horse Foundation, our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and protect animals in need while raising awareness and inspiring compassionate action.
Through direct care, advocacy, and partnerships with like-minded organizations, we work to:
Rescue animals facing abuse, neglect, and homelessness.
Rehabilitate and provide sanctuary to those in our care.
Rehome animals whenever possible, ensuring they find loving forever homes.
Raise awareness about animal welfare and inspire others to take action.
Fund and support other animal rescue efforts, expanding the impact of compassion.
Funded by 1% of Jes MaHarry’s revenue and heartfelt donations, we are committed to making a tangible difference—where every dollar, every rescue, and every effort counts.
Because every creature deserves to be safe, loved, and free.

Mabel and Willow
We rescued Momma Mabel and her baby Willow from the Fabrizious Kill Pen in Eaton, Colorado. Abandoned by America’s hidden horse slaughter industry, they were just moments away from being shipped across the border.
To stand in a direct-ship pen is to be marked for slaughter, a heartbreaking reality the unwanted horses of America face.
Now safe in our barn, they’re beginning the slow process of healing and decompression. Both are currently battling strangles, a contagious upper respiratory infection, but they are fighting hard with love and care surrounding them.
We’ll be sharing their day to day journey on Instagram. Follow along at @thesunhorsefoundation to learn more!

Tilly
Tilly came to us from a severe abuse and neglect situation, having endured extreme trauma. It’s taken 5 months for her to begin gaining confidence. Though still scared and uncertain about life, she will have a safe loving place at our sanctuary for the rest of her life. Tilly loves our other dogs, and while she’s still a bit unsure of people, she’s made incredible progress in warming up. She has made transformative strides in her rehabilitation and continues to grow stronger each day.

Charlotte
We rescued Charlotte alongside Momma Mabel and baby Willow from the Fabrizious Kill Pen in Eaton, Colorado.
Charlotte is a former bucking horse, once known by the number branded on her side - 389. Despite her past, she’s shown us a side very curious and gentle.
Though she’ll need time lots of love and patience to fully trust us, we’re incredibly optimistic. After just one week in our barn, it’s clear that Charlotte does not carry the defensive traits that many bucking horses develop.
We believe in her and are very excited to share her journey with you. Follow her day to day life on Instagram: @thesunhorsefoundation.
